Nicolas Bélanger
Co-Founder and Managing Partner - W INVESTMENTS
Nicolas Bélanger is a businessman, entrepreneur and a very active private investor. In 1995, he co-founded DTI Software. Under his leadership as President and Chief Executive Officer, DTI has become a leader in the In-Flight Entertainment sector, serving more than 105 international airlines. DTI was sold to a German listed group in January 2008. In 2007, Deloitte’s “Technology Fast 50” ranked DTI 50th among the fastest growing technology companies with the highest five years growth rate.
Since 2002, Nicolas Bélanger has managed W GROUP, a growth and private equity investment fund he founded with a business associate. Through W GROUP, Mr. Bélanger has led more than 30 investments and is a member of the board of directors of several of the companies in which he has invested.
Mr. Bélanger launched W2 in 2011 and W3 INVESTMENTS in 2013. These two additional venture funds were established to provide “sidecar” investments in partnership with a large Quebec institutional pension fund. The W Group has invested in companies including Lumenpulse, Distech-Controls, iBwave, Audiokinetic, PasswordBox and Colo-D.
In 2015, with the help of several successful local entrepreneurs, Mr. Bélanger co-founded W INDUSTRIES, a private equity fund that assures the succession and growth of companies in the industrial sector. In 2007, Ernst & Young named Mr. Bélanger “Entrepreneur of the Year”. Mr. Bélanger is also a director of SAT (Société des Arts Technologiques) and has been very involved since its inception as a member of the advisory committee of the National Bank-HEC Entrepreneurship Institute and its Accelerator.
Mr. Bélanger is married and has two young teenagers.
